Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:

I am unable to work currently due to a car accident, and subsequently stuck on a waiting list as tac has been useless.
I am a sole parent raising an abused child through now vce with amazing results, for a child certain to become a victim of the system.
I have been worried we will end up homeless once I run out of things to sell for the past nearly 3 years due to a dislocated spine in car accident nearly 5 years ago.
So when I received the last false debt in November , demanding the money by 19th December, I had yet another breakdown and felt like I am fighting a losing battle, slowly running out of fight. If it wasn't for my daughter relying on me, I wouldn't be here to tell the story.
I ended up selling our car, which was to become my daughters as she just gained her learners permit, and cannot drive my other car purchased as a work car just prior to accident.
This got me through Christmas, but after jumping through hoops, both on phone and in centre link, I finally got a letter on 13th December from my 2nd appeal , stating my debt had been cleared. I then received a letter on the 20th December stating they would be taking $87 per fortnight to repay my debt.
Another hour and a half later on phone (mobile) I am told that department is on holidays and they can't help me. My rent is due today, I have not slept for days, I'm so stressed i have made myself sick.
I am finally having my surgery In a few weeks and wonder just where I will be released to go, as I don't think I can do this much longer.

I raised 2 appeals and finally received a letter on 13/12/16 that my debt had been cleared after providing related payslips.
20/12/16 I received another letter stating they would take $87 per f/night to repay the debt.
Another hour and a half on phone to be told that department is on holidays and they can't do anything.

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:

This is the 2nd year in a row I have received dodgy debts, the last was for $15,000 two weeks before Christmas, which took about 4months to clear up and be back paid the money taken from me.
