Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:

I received my letter claiming of overpayments between 11/2014 & 07/2016. I was not on any assistance or received a single payment for an entire 12 months in between these dates of when they are claiming I was over paid.

After checking my bank statements for payments received by Centrelink over the dates in question, I discovered that there was a difference of almost $1500 between what they are claiming was paid to me and of what was actually paid into my bank account! This is a huge miscalculation.

This claim is currently in review.

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:

The initial claim was appalling with no reasoning as to why I owe any money. Also, the fact that this claim was sent out and I have found an error of $1500 just proves it is a flawed system.

I was fortunate enough to speak to a kind Centrelink representative that was very helpful and informative.
A hold has been placed until Feb 2020 while an ARO review has been lodged - after having to make a repayment of $460 first.
