I have sat on the phone line for over 2 hours, transferred 4-5 times between Child Support & Family Tax only to be given conflicting advice and reduced to tears. I am an educated, 45yr old women with finance/legal background and I felt like I was going mad... I fought the law and I won ! Debt completely waived at the cost of a couple of mental breakdowns. Incompetence doesn't come close to defining this ignoramus, insidious joke of government agency. I took a day off work and watched for 1 hour a Staff Member scrambling through computer screens and apologising for the delay saying 'they update things so often and we don't get alot of training, I think I've done this right'. I was told after my 1st review 'even though we may have made a mistake a debt is a debt and you have to repay it'.
1) Dispute & Request Explanation, 2) Request Review, 3) Appeal, 4) Tribunal, 5) Never ever give up !!!
Grossly incompetent, initially provided with wrong information with no accountability. I was never provided with calculation evidence. I won after 2 reviews requests and listed for Appeal.
