I am acting on behalf of my son as his nominee. The difference between reported and ATO was only $1800 yet a debtof $1178 was raised.
I have spent in excess of 60hours dealing with this in phone calls, visits to local office, ombudsman and calculating and rehashing information already supplied to the best of my ability. The roster information is no longer available so recalculating the amount brought forward each fortnight is impossible. The calculation is necessary due to reporting date not matching pay slip date.
This process has been extremely stressful as the employees I spike to could not be harder to talk to, deal with or lacking in caring and compassion. It has cost me approximately $400 in calls on my mobile phone credit. This process has caused me a lot of anxiety and stress.
I am still receiving requests to pay the debt even thought the appeal process was started in November. The final information was supplied in the week before Xmas but as yet has not been assessed and notified that there is no debt. The stress and anxiety remains.
Only way it can be described is deplorable. The process should be stopped immediately, real time checks be put in place, money be refunded and an investigation into the people responsible for this absolute disgrace.
