I was shocked to get a phone call and find out I had this much debt from 2 years ago. Centrelink never told me I had to upload payslips every 2 weeks so they based the payments off an average amount. As if I have this much money lying around if I'm already on Centrelink payments and a uni student on limited hours at work. This put my anxiety levels through the roof and I was stuck in a depressed state for weeks before I had my antidepressant dose increased. Centrelink put the debt on hold until they could reassess. It has now been 5 months and still nothing but the thought of this debt in the back of my head. I would like to know how they come to the conclusion of this debt as my pay met the criteria. When I was on the phone to centrelink they slipped out that there was another debt yet to come but couldnt give me any further details as that was still in process. I have been bumped around to many different departments on the phone as noone communicates through this system and could not tell me what was going on with my debt reassessment.
Absolutely disappointing the way this has been handled. It has put a cloud over my head. I never get a clear answer to my questions or the person I'm speaking with never understands what I am asking.
