I received youth allowance alongside studying and part-time work. I finished studying last year and headed out into the workforce, whilst paying my taxes and chipping away at my HECS I received a debt notice. This was incredibly disheartening, I felt incredibly stressed and ultimately misled by a system I once saw as a support. I always endeavoured to do the right thing whilst receiving payment, reporting my income and any changes in circumstances. I don't believe I've done anything wrong.
I don't support this policy, nor the way that the Government is handling the process. This has caused a huge amount of stress and doubts for me, I have greater concerns for the more vulnerable members of society. Our welfare systems should be supporting us, not belittling us.
