Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:

I recieved a debt of $1800 and i got the adex sent to me.

I tried entering my payslips online but the website kept crashing so i phoned them twice and the first time they opened it up for me and the second time the person on the phone said "unfortuately this is the information we got and you will be getting a letter in the mail for $1800".

I requested an adex and they sent that to me. From the Adex is can see that the first 2 over payments were when i handed in payslips from september into centerlink to even recieve youth allowance.
At that stage i wasn't even aware if i would be allowed youth allowance.
On October 5th i recieved a bulk payment which is where the 2 overpayments are.

From october i did not work until Feb the following year which is where i declared amounts of $1500 plus which should of equated to $0 into my account. Before it came into my account i went into certerlink and questioned why it would be coming in and they they said it was fine.
They paid me 3 times in feb before it stopped and now it has come to this situation where i have a debt.

I phoned today and told them the situation and even though the person on the phone agreed that i did the right thing and declared everything and questioned everything they still said they cant waive the debt because it is what it is.
I told them it was an administration error and because i questioned it i took their answers in good faith.

I also find it interesting that it also didn't show what amounts they entered from my payslips in september when i got over paid, so my response to that was "how can they not see that!"
they are telling me i have a debt but i have to trust they are correct even though they cannot see all the information?

I'm just so frustrated by all this as you try do the right thing at the time and question everything and double check everything and they keep telling you its all okay.
A few years down the track you get this awful letter in the mail and when you call they just don't care.

What should I do now?

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:

You trust that a government agency has it together and when they tell you it is fine, it should mean that it is fine and not come after you years later that you have debt even though you questioned all their steps at the time.
