Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:

OMG I'm stressed to the max just trying to get old payslips which 2 of the 4 companies they say I worked for during that time no longer have any records as they legally are allowed to shred them after 5 years.
I had no idea when I was first notified about the debt that I should of not started to make payments but as I was going thru alot at the time and then having been threatened that if I don't start making payments within a mth that it would go to debt collects who would had more fees on top of it.

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:

I feel angry because I know I don't owe the money, I know I reported every fortnight my income being a casual worker, and what angers me more is that they say I have worked for a company and earned money from the debt period but I recently obtained proof from my old employer that I did not work a day with them during the period they say I did
also the amount of single parenting payment they say I owe I didn't even receive that much it was more than half of it that I actually received because I obtained my bank statements from that period AND I had already paid back in that tax period nearly $2000 when I did my tax cause I was overpayed which they have yet to provide me the requested info in which I asked to prove that.
Its so hard because I'm not the smartest person nor am I good with my words especially in this situation.
And centrelink don't have any records after 5 years for me to obtain as my evidence. Its not fair and they shouldn't be allowed to do this especially to vulnerable people.
