Providing the same information for the sixth time.

Debt amount:
Date debt issued:
Friday, 6 January 2017
Has your case been referred to a collection agency?:
Payment Type:
Youth Allowance
Appealing Debt?:
I don't know how to
Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:

It is really unclear how to contest this debt, I think I have?
It seems to have been reviewed ? A reduced debt notice was issued, but it still seems to be incorrect.
How many times to I have to provide this government body the same piece of information? We're up to six times so far.
When will it end?
When they incorrectly take it from my tax return?
When I contest it again, and again, and again, and again?
I'm lucky I have a job now, but the idea that they think it's appropriate to call while I'm at work, thereby jeopardising my job, is messed up. It looks like I might have to take time off work to deal with this rubbish too.
So the agency which is supposed to be helping people get a job may very well cause me to loose mine.

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:

I've provided them with the same information no less then six times.
Calling them is a 40 min + endeavour if you're lucky.

Trying to fix the problem is soul destroying.
The fact that they are wasting so much tax payers money vilifying and harassing our most vulnerable members of society is appauling.
They knew going into this that matching and treating the annual income of an individual report to the ATO against the reported data from Centrelink would create false errors — they needed a system that matched the ATO's data, not one that just averaged your earnings over the year with what you reported.
The insanity of all this is that they are literally punishing people who managed to find some form of employment and get away from the bureaucratic mess that is Centrelink.
