I got a random telephone call when I was in the middle of shopping. I couldn't understand the person very well and they were trying to get me to remember addresses from years ago to verify my identify so I said i'd have to deal with it later. after the shops, I walked to Centrelink office where they said it sounded like a hoax, but they'd check. they then gave me a number to ring. after being on hold/changed departments for half an hour a guy answered the phone and it transpired that I might owe a debt from 6 years ago around 3000 but might not depending on my paycheques. this included a debt recovery fee, despite the fact they obviously had my phone number and least and pulled my data from the ATO who have my current address. he'd said he call when I got my payslips, but didn't at the prescribed time. so I was on the phone again for ages. I will have to appeal when I get my payslips. Like a lot of people, this has come a time when I have other things going on.

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?: 

a lot of the many people I have been on the phone and saw in person today have been individually lovely. its the system that is dreadful. I feel sorry for a lot of the "front line" people whose jobs must be extra hard due to this algorithim system. I guess what I hate is that they are going after people who actually have done the right thing and gotten jobs therefore they look over payed, instead of getting some people to actually get a job. if the government needs thte money, they should go after big company tax cheats. I feel very depressed by it all.
