Centrelink originally refused to supply anything in writing such as a debt explanation report saying they do not manufacture letters they also had differing verbal accounts and would not answer my letters because i did not submit it on the correct forms, how are we expected to know this without any feedback, on my first call to the above listed number, the person i spoke to tried to say i had committed fraud which angered me greatly particularly as they could not supply me with all the facts, telling me the onus of proof rested with me despite the claims dating back 6 years, and that i should go online, this evaporated any good will i felt towards this organisation and prompted me to complain to the ombudsman.
i had to then get legal advice to understand the process and what exactly was being alleged, even now it is not entirely clear i have had conflicting information from centrelink and information received through freedom of information is telephone book thick. ENRAGED is how i feel.
All i expect is if i owe money it is explained in an understandable way and timely way and not in an accusatory way, to be treated respectfully and if the system is known to have errors every effort is made before sending such letters out and to rectify this as much as humanly possible.
None of this was done and the government initially made very little effort to rectify anything showing contempt and distain to those affected, bring on the election this mob are toast and i am going to do my best to make sure of it.
