Tell us about your debt and how has this affected you? e.g. anxiety levels, financial and accommodation stress:

I just keeping asking myself, what happened to being innocent until proven guilty (prima facie). I was so angry that Centrelink was implying that I had routed the system when I have supplied my fortnightly earnings during this period and a separation certificate and had lodged a tax return. I worked for one employee but for two different periods in different positions with different wage amounts. The period in question was when I was working an hourly rate! So Centrelink's algorithms got really screwed when it tried to average my earnings over the financial year! I have been appealing this bogus robo debt since the first registered letter in March 2018 requesting (demanding) that I confirm my employee income for two Employers (2011/12 & 2017/18) I had to continually contact Centrelink to request where they were at with my review and they just kept fobbing me off and asking for more paperwork! I had to supply bank statements outside the debt period in question as they were telling me that I owed them $15,000. I told them that I didn't and it was more than likely the first part of my income amount with this particular employer in the first half of the financial year before going on Newstart with a Separation Certificate. Long story short I sent them a copy of my separation certificate because that had an end date that they could work with and by magic I received a robo debt letter for $310. I don't owe Centrelink a cent! So I continued my fight and sent them a request for their workings outlining how they calculated this bogus debt. I have a copy of their calculations and the first thing that stands out that not only do they still average the earnings annually, they trump up your bank statement earnings with a tax amount (some of my bank earnings were not within the tax range! ) The next thing that stood out was the end date; 19 June 2012. (I was receiving Newstart and reporting through to the end of that Financial Year!
In my letter I told Centrelink if they wish to communicate with me they put it in writing. How Centrelink can just get away with talking to you on the phone (when you can get through) but not put what they say in writing! The only written form from Centrelink has been the Income Confirmation Letters and the Debt. This final letter was also cc'd to the Ombudsman (no reply); Dept of Human Services (no reply); Administrative Appeals Tribunal (no reply); Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (replied but didn't appreciate getting a copy of letter, told me they would keep it on record if I wasn't happy with the response from other parties). Yes I have had the usual Private number contacts come up; assuming its Centrelink trying to make contact. They obviously cant read as I told them no communication unless it was in writing. They have withheld my 'Sickness Benefit Claim from September last year' and they can utilise my next Tax Return to steal money from me to pay their own bogus robo debt. Therefore I don't understand why they have forwarded my debt onto a debt collector that they have paid to chase their bogus amount they think I owe.

How do you feel about the way the Government has handled this process?:

I'm a hard working and ethical human being. I have had more than my fair share of life's tragedies and trauma's to deal with and survived; but this I just have to walk away and try and live day by day until the next curve ball hits me without warning! I am in the process of selling my 20 year old car (yes I know I live the high life) so I can have some safety net to fall back on to pay my rent while I work two casual jobs; as I don't want to be (in a situation where I need to utilise Centrelink) and I don't want to be another high percentage statistic of the Over 50's homeless females. How do I feel ..... I don't.
