This has had the same effect on me as everyone else.
I was originally told I owe over $10,000 before they reduced that to the current total of $3592.87, which I still can't believe to be correct.
I am still studying now and living on a paltry salary.
This is seriously going to affect the rest of my year in a negative manner and could potentially cause problems with my Master's degree.
Not to mention... I am not the type of person to run from debts.
I have always paid back credit cards, I have paid back a bank load, AND I have ALWAYS paid back whatever amount Centrelink have asked for in the past!
This is just too much.
I don't even know how to decode the documents they have sent me through the FOI request.
It still does not give me a correct total and accurate calculations regarding the total of my debt.
They don't handle it. They are simply content to allow more debts to roll out daily and allow for the anxiety and stress to mount as their faulty debt collection system runs rampant.
