I actually laughed when it first came.
It was around the time of the half billion dollar grant to an organisation that didn't ask for it and a time when politicians were under all sorts of scrutiny for the dodgy use of taxpayers' money.
I couldn't believe that they were serious in pursuing me for a debt that didn't exist.
I probably made a mistake in ignoring it.
Eventually I was being hounded by debt collectors and was driven to extreme anxiety.
I turned off the phone and really cut myself off from family and friends.
The anxiety and depression that it has caused is debilitating.
Disgusted. I was meticulous in reporting my income for the short time I was underemployed, and was delighted to let them know as soon as I procured a longer term contract.
The fact that politicians could get away with rorting the system for so long, while simultaneously destroying innocent people's lives is a reflection on their core values. I can hardly wait to vote them out, although I fear the worst for any incoming government. We are an easy target.
The debt collectors were rude and cruel.
